Thoughtful Thursday

Yesterday I chose to participate in an interview meme and agreed to be interviewed by the absolutely fabulous Wordnerd. She emailed me five thought-provoking questions which are here with my answers!!

1. You met your husband in a way that is probably considered non-traditional by some people. Do you think that making your relationship successful is easier, harder or about the same than if you had met someone "traditionally"?
Yes, meeting online is somewhat non-traditional and making our relationship successful is a good mix of easy and hard, as any relationship is really. But, given the fact that we didn’t really have a period of dating before moving in together given our circumstances - for those new to my life, hubby & I met online and he’s from England – met June of 2002, he visited me for a month October 2002, staying at my apartment with me; went home, sold everything, quit jobs, moved here in December, we had a courthouse wedding Valentine’s Day 2003 and church wedding October 2003 and we had our baby girl June 2005! ANYWAY, back to the question, without having that dating period and living together immediately you’re kind of thrown into family situations, relationship stuff, habits/lifestyle, etc. That part made it not as easy and we’re still working out kinks for some stuff like that. As for what’s made it more easily successful a relationship, meeting online and being honest individuals we really got to know each other without the superficial part of physical appearance immediately coming into play. We spent lots of time on the phone too and even talked to each other’s parents on the phone before meeting too. I just feel like we connected more deeply and everything with the way we met. When he came here for his visit, we immediately settled in and felt like an old married couple, which we have now become! haha

2. You have an extremely cute daughter. Raising those extremely cute daughters is a lot of hard work from what I understand. What are some of the things you wish for Emma as she grows older? These can be things you have experienced or didn't-just things that you want for Em that will make her life easier as she journeys through life.
Why thank you, she is a cutie isn’t she? hehe I do think that raising a daughter will be wonderful for the relationship mothers/daughters have, well the one my mom and I have is so wonderful and I think my mom has given me/is giving me tools for helping me raise Emma in the way she raised me. I wish for Emma to be self-confident, compassionate, smart, fun-loving...a good person with a good head on her shoulders. I want her to be strong, not to worry so much about what other people think and to stand up for herself. I worry, with her birthmark, that she may be teased, however, kids are mean and tease other kids for no good reason anyway, so that really doesn’t matter. I want her to care about other people and have integrity and most of all I want her to be happy in whatever she does and for her to know deep down for every second of her life that she is loved SO much, that’s she’s important and special...but not to be a snob of course!

3. It's all about you today! Assuming that the things that need attention will have gotten it from other sources and that money is no object, what would you indulge in during a "Michelle Day"?
Wow, how fun, a “Michelle Day”...I’d spend dawn till midnight being pampered. I’d indulge in a spa day with massages, pedicure, manicure, facial, haircut and color, travel on a private jet to workout with the trainers at Sky Sport & Spa in Beverly Hills, CA. (the cast of Workout on Bravo TV) and eat at some swanky restaurant that would put me in a place likely to spot some stars, go shopping and buy a complete wardrobe including shoes and some bling. Then, while I’m pampering myself I’d arrange for my family & friends to be pampered too, send Trevor and Emma to Disneyland or something and my mom to a spa & out shopping, dad to a golf resort, Wordnerd spa/shopping, etc...why not share the love, what makes me happiest is not only to be happy myself but see my family happy.

4. If you had to pick between never watching television again or never hearing music again, which one would you pick and why?
Well, I could hear music on TV I’m assuming, so I’d choose to still be able to watch TV and hear music that way...hehe. Otherwise I’d have to choose to still hear music for sure!

5. What is your greatest strength and what is your greatest weakness?
Wow, I guess my biggest strength is empathy/compassion and my biggest weakness, well that’s harder to choose just one thing! Some obvious answers are chocolate, lack of motivation, being critical/sarcastic. Maybe the not so obvious weakness of mine is the inability to really be confident in myself/stand up for myself.

Thanks for the interview! Great questions!

* Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”

* I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
* You will update your weblog with the answers to the questions.
* You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
* When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Most importantly, have fun with this!

It's so cool how you and your hubs met, how romantic!

I would love to have a Mary day too, but I would feel sad about being away from the girls and would end up bringing them along somewhere we would all like to go. LOL! I'm such a dork.
