Living Life Backwards

Do you remember any wishes you made for various birthdays throughout your life? I was thinking of that as my mom blew out her candles for her 46th birthday this weekend. It got me thinking that I have my 29th birthday approaching in June. For the first time in my life I'm feeling a little older...hard to explain what I mean, but I'm a mom to a little girl getting bigger by the minute, she'll be 2 in June, I'm approaching my last birthday before hitting 30, which for some reason is making me feel older, not really "OLD" but older...my skin is dryer through the winter than it used to be; I need to keep applying lotion to my feet to keep the heels from drying and peeling and keep them semi-soft; we bought our "baby" her first potty chair last weekend, can't believe how much older she looked sitting there for the first time; I had this feeling about how I'm still pursuing my degree but don't really have a timeframe for when I'll graduate and don't really care, but thought, wow, it would be nice to have a degree before I'm 30 but I don't want to pay my loans back, maybe I could start pursuing a 2nd bachelor's then so I didn't have to pay the loans back and could still be a student, I like being a student and my job pays my tuition so why not...as long as I don't have to pay back my loans yet, I like that idea of having a degree but still being a student and not paying my loans back. Anyway, just feeling older lately and thought the living in reverse thing sounded pretty cool! haha

This is an email I got this morning that I had to share...sounds appealing!

I want to live my next life backwards:

You start out dead and get that out of the way.

Then you wake up in an old age home feeling better every day.

Then you get kicked out for being too healthy.

You enjoy your retirement and collect your pension.

Then when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day.

You work 40 years until you're too young to work .

You get ready for High School: drink alcohol, party, and you're generally promiscuous.

Then you go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, and you have no responsibilities.

Then you become a baby, and then...

You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in luxury, in spa-like conditions: central heating, room service on tap, and then...

You finish off as an orgasm.

I rest my case.

I've been dealing with this "turning 29" thing lately. It's odd. I'm all sentimental about my twenties, and about finishing them off nicely, and I'm starting to feel not really old,but... older, yes. I don't know what I feel about living such a grown up life.

I'm going to graduate myself soon. And then I'm going to go to graduate school, so I can defer my loans for another 5-6 years. Keep that beast off as long as you can, I say.

Finally, I don't usually care for these kinds of email forward things, but I really enjoyed this one. It had me at the orgasm, I'll admit.

Ciao.

Thirties = best decade YET. For me at least.

Once I hit the big three-oh, everything about life seemed calmer and less frenetic. It was like someone hit a switch and said "Now you're gonna slow the hell down and enjoy life and say "The hell with it. Whatever happens will be." when things don't go as planned.

Maybe I've mellowed some with age. Whatever it is, I like it.
