Rest in Peace

We had to say goodbye to my grandma this week. She had pulmonary fibrosis the last few years but had been in pretty good health even with that only using her oxygen as needed. I think after she lost her 51 year old daughter Mary to the same disease after complications with pneumonia just one month ago and broke her arm stumbling down the back steps a couple of weeks ago, her spirit really was declining. She got pneumonia about a week and half ago and was hospitalized last Thursday but seemed like she might recover. I think one of the toughest things other than watching her struggle to breathe on her own was seeing my grandpa cry for the first time. In November they would have been married 50 years and I heard him say to his sister-in-law taht he thought they'd have 10 more years. We spent lots of time at the hospital from Friday through Monday night with lots of family and she held on waiting for another daughter and son-in-law to arrive from Texas. Just a couple of hours after they arrived and had gone to get some rest my Grandpa was alone with her and said she went peacefully around 2am Tuesday morning.
Grandma loved spending time with all of her grandkids and the new great grandchildren. She'll definitely be a guardian angel for her newest grandchild that is due in February.
We'll be spending a lot of time with family in the next few days leading up to the funeral on Saturday and working on photo collages that we started working on yesterday. It's been nice looking at photos and sharing happy memories of grandma. Thank you for all of the kind emails I've received from those of you who knew my grandma was in the hospital and had passed away.
We will miss you grandma.

I'm sorry your grandma passed away. But I'm glad you have many, many wonderful memories of her. That is a sweet picture of her holding the little baby and Emma looking one.
My prayers are with you, take care.

p.s.- yes, ARE YOU?
