Baby Shawn Patrick...

My aunt that I've talked about in the past who was expecting a baby in February had her baby yesterday. He was born a few weeks early and weighed 5 pounds, 1 oz. and was 17 inches long, pretty long for his weight I thought! Anyway, my aunt had to go in early because she was having issues with preclampsia and now my Grandpa said the baby had to go to another hospital which was better equipped to help the baby born early to a mother with HELLP syndrome. My aunt is being released today though and we're still going to have her baby shower tomorrow because they didn't have much for little baby Shawn yet and didn't know his sex until he was born.

Anyway, I'm looking for a way to honor my grandma and aunt (my aunt's mother and sister) who passed away this fall within a month of each other. We want to say a little prayer for Shawn to recover well and be released too. Anyone have ideas or poems or prayers? I know it's short notice since the shower is tomorrow but I would love any suggestions anyone has!

I thought maybe we could even say that we pray for my aunt Melissa's mother and sister in heaven to look over Shawn in the coming weeks as he’s cared for at the hospital so he can come home healthy and strong soon. My grandma bought some of the decorations and stuff before she passed away so maybe we could even just mention that? Just looking for additional input, let me know what you think.

Thank you and please keep my aunt and her new baby in your prayers.

Aw, congrats on being an aunt! And we will pray for little Shawn.
I'm not sure of any specific prayers, but maybe a gift that is from all your passed-on relatives would be nice. My cousin got a gift from her mother (I CANNOT remember what it was) at her baby shower and it had something to do with our shared Grandmother and her other Grandmother who had both passed. And for something more specific: my grandfather passed away a couple of weeks before my wedding and my aunt gave us a card from him, explaining inside that he told her to give us the money enclosed. It was very special to me.
Yes, so to close, a gift that would possibly have come from all of them, or maybe just a card expressing their wishes.

Congrats on the new addition. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. :)

Hooray for Missy! I'm actually doubly pleased because she chose a normal name for the baby. ;)

As far as honoring your grandma, why not planting a tree? They're good for the environment and I like the whole nurturing growth circle of life thing they represent. Otherwise, if the hippie vibe doesn't float your boat how about a quilt? It would be especially meaningful if you could include some things of your grandma's in it.
